Aja'ib al-makhluqat wa ghara'ib al-mawjudat (عجائب المخلوقات) in short Ajayeb, is a suggestive cognitive work, full of strange linguistic pollutants, interesting agencies and animations. And like most of the medieval sciences and knowledge systems that were busy with the transformation of agencies, it collapses “lists” and “narratives.” In Ajayeb each animal is a consensual hallucination device; some pre-organic, inter-corporal species, with trans-ontological intentionalities, and some transmutate, morph, appropriate and reformulate each other’s signatures.
The order of existence, or the scheme of things, by Ajayeb's architects of a naturalistic cosmology, who established hierarchies and discontinuities among them, are beings that cross path one another in the long ‘chain of being.’ Like Ajayeb, this graph that you see in this page is also a rig, a technological provisional construction for arranging elements in space, time and digital matter——meeting its own tail; its other name: ‘chain of language.’
